Biography: Maureen McNamara is an award winning film and television producer and director with over twenty years experience. As Senior Vice President of Television Production and Programming for the J-Net Group, Inc. Maureen produced the ten part series “Earth Rescue” for the Outdoor Life Network from locations around the world. She is a producer of much of the Ecology Channel’s programming including the “EcoView” and “EcoForum” Series. Ms. McNamara has worked as a field producer for the Discovery Channel and for Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award winning “The Last Days” (Best Feature Documentary 1998). She is the winner of The American Film Festival and The Native American Film Festival for her PBS documentary “Mashpee” which is now part of the Smithsonian Institute’s permanent collection. Ms. McNamara has produced many innovative documentaries for cultural groups such as The Institute for Contemporary Art, The American Repertory Theater and The Poet’s Theater. She has produced music videos for MTV artists including The Grateful Dead and Don Henley and her Go-Go’s video was prominently featured in VH1’s recent “Behind the Music” special. She was Assistant Director / Producer for the dramatic film series “Prisoners of Childhood” for Channel Four, London, U.K. She was C-SPAN’s New England Producer for 18 years, covering four presidential elections. As a videographer for Steven Spielbergs’s Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation she has recorded nearly 100 testimonials. Recent projects include a series on Teens and HIV funded by Cable Positive, producing for the CN8-TV series “American Builder” and national commercials for AT&T.
