Biography: 

SUSANTA BISWAS : Born in July 15, 1966 at Kolkata. After Graduation with English literature and language under University of Calcutta received Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Starting his carrier with an Advertising agency in Kolkata he read News at Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata for ten years. With his long association in electronic news media with Doordarshan and other private channels he uses to make documentary films since late Nineties.

Susanta documents contemporary issues affecting the poor, vulnerable and marginalized sections and environment which are directly linked to a common man. He is actively involved in fostering sustainable development in under-privileged communities in India through audio-visual documentaries, webzines, publications and citizen sector organization. Several documentaries on specific projects, corporate and social communications, business, education, culture, sports etc. were made by him. Some of which are:

Two documentary films directed by Susanta Biswas have participated in two International Festivals in 2009 organized by the Government of West Bengal. The documentary on sustainable effort of tribal women in social forestry titled ‘Tribal women, afforestation and sustainability’ participated in the 15th Kolkata Film Festival and ‘Artistic approach’ based on establishing first SMFE in India participated in the 8th International Social Communication Cinema Conference 2009.
