Biography: 

Short Bio for Helene Hagan

Born in Rabat, Morocco, Helene E. Hagan received her earlier education in Morocco and Bordeaux University, France. She also holds two Master’s Degrees from Stanford University. California, in French and Education, and in Cultural and Psychological Anthropology. She was Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Human Consciousness of JFK University in California, owned an art gallery in Marin County and has served as President of Tazzla Institute for Cultural Diversity since 1993, writing numerous articles and two books on Amazigh (Berber and Tuareg) culture and producing over fifty community service television programs on a variety of topics related to Amazigh culture, arts, and human right issues for Amazigh Video Productions.

Helene is the author of two books: "The Shining Ones:Etymological Essay on the Amazigh Roots of Archaic Egyptian Civilization." (2001) and "Tuareg Jewelry: Traditiional Symbols and Patterns." (2007) -

Helene Hagan is a lifetime Associate Curator of the Paul Radin Anthropological Collection at Marquette University Special Archives. She has been a member of the Amazigh Cultural Association in America since 1998, and served on its board for four years.

In 2007, Helene E. Hagan was one of the guest Professors for the First Berber Institute held under an NEH grant at the University of Oregon, Corvallis. In 2008, she created the Los Angeles Amazigh Film Festival.
