Biography: 

Ted Millich, 45, is making his first film. Beyond Democracy, his 90-minute film project, tells the story of three organizations adopting and using a form of governance called sociocracy, which guarantees that participants remain equivalent in power, and that the dysfunction we are so familiar with in our organizations is absent. Sociocracy has been used all over the world in about 200 companies during the last 40 years.
He grew up in Kansas City, Lawrence, Kansas, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, before moving to Central Virginia where he's lived for the last 17 years. He lived in an intentional community for 12 years before becoming a gourmet mushroom grower and then a filmmaker. He also plays guitar, bass, saxophone, piano, and sings. He became a sociocracy trainer in 2001. He has studied a slew of languages including Dutch, French, German, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
