Biography: I am an independent filmmaker, specializing in music-related subjects, and teach digital filmmaking and video production at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I have a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Bowling Green State University and degrees from Indiana University and Harvard. My dissertation concerned globalization of popular music, specifically reggae music. I'm working on a documentary about contemporary folk music, "Troubadour Blues," that is in post-production. Other projects include a travel series focusing on live music, and a concert series to be recorded in historic venues around the U.S. and Canada. I have played music in front of audiences since my teens.
