PORTER L. VERSFELT III BIOGRAPHY
Porter L. Versfelt III has told stories in one form or another his entire adult life. First as a radio and television reporter. Later writing and producing documentaries and other long-form projects for public television, government and charitable agencies and Fortune 500 corporations.
Porter has an insatiable curiosity about people, life, history, science and the many answers to the question “Why”? His enquiries have taken him to the Amazon rain forest, the midst of a riot, to the Cannes Film Festival, deep in a Missouri cave and high over the Florida Keys in a bi-plane.
Porter’s inquisitiveness started long before moving from his home state of Texas to Iran and later other countries as a young teen, following his father, an Exploration Geologist working in the oil business. His voracious reading and travels have fueled a lifetime of exploration.
Porter started freelancing as a cameraman, producer and director in 1984, forming Versfelt Communications Group in 1996. His company specializes in producing motion picture, network television and music industry publicity videos and television programs. VCGTV also creates high-end corporate marketing videos and video news releases (VNR’s).
His many clients and projects include production of behind-the-scenes DVD “special features”(Electronic Press Kits or “EPK’s”) for many motion pictures and network TV dramas including ABC, Warner Brothers, Dreamworks, Sony Pictures Television, etc.; CNN International, NBC and ABC News, The Food Network, Georgia Public Television, Pennsylvania Public Television, Burger King Corporation, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey and many others.
Porter is married to Angela, a public school teacher and lives in an Atlanta, Georgia suburb.
He enjoys the diverse assignments that working independently offers because his life is never boring.
