Biography: Vickie Patik launched her multi-faceted career as a singer/dancer at the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. The luckiest understudy ever, she played Eliza Doolittle on Broadway opposite Ian Richardson many times and enjoyed ten years on the boards before gravitating to screenwriting. Her first produced teleplay, DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE, won her the Emmy, Writers Guild, Christopher, D.W. Griffith, Peabody and Humanitas awards. Fourteen produced films and another cache of awards later, Patik turned to directing with a Directing Workshop for Women grant at the American Film Institute. Her debut film, NOW OR NEVER, won accolades at the Houston and Santa Barbara Film Festivals. She studied Meisner method acting and in 2001 graduated from the Baron-Brown Studio in Santa Monica. In 2006 she added video editing to her skill set. As president of her documentary production company, SIMPATIKO FILM WORKS, she is currently producing/writing a documentary series and book titled IS WAR INEVITABLE, a scientific exploration of the possibility of sustained peace.
