Distribution U - A One Day Crash Course in New Distribution with Peter Broderick and Scott Kirsner ~ LA
Distribution guru Peter Broderick and Scott Kirsner, Editor of CinemaTech, are getting together to present "Distribution U.", a one-day, one-time-only crash course on the new rules of marketing and distribution for filmmakers and other creative types.

The plan is to spotlight the tools and strategies that are working best today for documentary and narrative filmmakers who want to create great work, attract a big audience, and make a living. The course will be based on Scott Kirsner's recent book, "Fans, Friends & Followers," which profiles 30 artists who've been pioneers in digital marketing, and on Peter Broderick's experience working with dozens of clients who have not only gotten their films accepted by the top festivals in the world, but have also built hybrid distribution strategies that have earned them and their investors a solid financial return.
This will be a day full of data points, examples, and case studies -- and we'll be joined by two filmmaker "special guests," one from the doc world and one who works on narrative features.
This workshop will provide practical advice to filmmakers who want to take advantage of the major shifts that are now roiling all entertainment-related industries. The day will wrap up with a group brainstorming session where we'll improvise marketing and distribution strategies for some of the projects that attendees are currently working on.
