Whether we like it or not, most of us now live within diverse, globalized societies. Cultural homogeny is becoming extinct. AMERICAN DREAMERS, a transmedia documentary project, is an evolving chronicle of immigration, the oldest human journey. By exploring both the conscious and subconscious dreams of diverse immigrants in America, this documentary project unearths the universal fears, hopes and desires that link us all. Using scientific knowledge of dreams, an online database approach and cinematic narrative, this project is an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural examination of immigration's human cost. The feature-length documentary component will follow three characters, first generation immigrants from different countries, on their quests to build a new life in California. The website will hold a collection of dream-videos created by the filmmakers, as well as dreams curated from public submissions.
