MARY CORSE ARTIST: Light Truth Perception

Director:
Robert Mack
Producers:
Robert Mack, Maria Leicy

Our Mary Corse Artist: Light, Truth, Perception documentary film tells the story of California contemporary artist, Mary Corse, who began painting at twelve, reaching artist maturity at the age of eighteen. Mary has consistently produced important artwork for over 50 years, examining the subtle and dynamic displays of light, space and presence.

Mary, a single mother, was often overlooked because of her gender, but today is recognized as a renowned leader of the Californian Light & Space movement, along with James Turrell and Robert Irwin.  In the film we see Mary: working in her studio, discussing her creative concepts and her approach to maintaining a successful career as an artist, also various arts academic interviews with for example, LACMA museum director, Michael Govan and Andrew Perchuk at THE GETTY, both who discuss Mary's career and her artwork in their permanent museum collection.

Through her work, Mary inspires and educates, exploring how perception shapes experience, ultimately helping us discover our own deeper meaning of truth.
