Not Just the Music
Not Just the Music is a feature-length documentary that explores a social revolution through music education. The film follows pioneering conservatory graduates, all gifted musicians, who are idealistic and committed to making a difference in the world. During the course of a transformative year, they will train to teach music to children in communities facing poverty, gangs, drugs and threats of deportation. The young idealists are the revolution's vanguard, bringing the joy of music and the discipline of ensemble playing- in orchestra, band, or chorus- to poor children. As rich character-driven stories unfold, our film examines a serious effort to train excellent musicians to teach. We'll follow our protagonists into the lives of the children they teach and capture a broader view of this ground-breaking movement.
