T-Rex is a feature documentary about 17-year old boxer Claressa "T-Rex" Shields who made history this summer when she won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, the first time women were allowed to box in the games. The film follows her extraordinary year, from high school in Flint, Michigan, to the trials in China, to the top of the Olympic podium in London. But Claressa's story is about so much more than boxing.

In the past year alone, she's lived in four different houses and moved in with her coach and his family. As coach and father figure, Jason has guided Claressa as she deals with a difficult past and navigates an unbelievably exciting future. But how far will resilience and determination get her? After winning gold and returning home to a parade, television crews, and an invitation to the White House, everyone thought a gold medal would translate into big endorsements. But Claressa's only sponsor is a local car dealership. She's not complaining, it's not her style, but like everyone else, Claressa is trying to figure out why she has been passed over. Is she too strong? Too Flint? Or is America just not ready for a girl who loves to box? If there's one thing she knows how to do, it's prove people wrong. Now she's back in the gym with her sights on Rio in 2016.
