Since its earliest days, Connecticut farmers and the farming way of life helped to build the state, give sustenance to millions, and provide residents with a special sense of place. Today, farming in Connecticut is at a crossroads as lifestyle changes, development pressures and regional factory farms threaten the state's 4,200 remaining farms. Working the Land tells this fascinating story of Connecticut agriculture past, present and future. The documentary, narrated by Sam Waterston, is a compelling look at agriculture's role in the state's food system, economy, landscape and culture as well as the challenges faced by Connecticut farmers. Along the way, we visit pcturesque state farms and profile 26 of the farmers who work the lands and waters of Connecticut.
