Job Summary:

We’re looking for an organized, proactive self-starter to temporarily (mid June 2021 through late January 2022) support our 4 person development team through a busy season as we launch a new donor and membership database CRM (Neon One). The associate will be an integral part of the Development team, contributing to us successfully meeting our revenue and other departmental goals through efficient administrative and operational support. Initially, the Development Associate will be primarily supporting the Membership & Individual Giving Manager, then as our busy summer season picks up, transitioning to also directly supporting the Awards Campaign & Advertising Manager. They will also occasionally provide support to our Grants Manager and Senior Director of Development and Partnerships.

The Development Associate will be responsible for a number of critical fundraising activities that keep our department functioning smoothly, including the upkeep of our project management database (Airtable) and donor and membership database CRMs (Salesforce and Neon One), providing frontline customer support to our members, writing acknowledgment letters for donors and funders, and coordinating media assets from advertisers. This role is best suited for someone who is extremely organized and detail-oriented and who has at least some professional administrative experience (internships, summer and part-time employment are all valued). The ideal candidate is curious and motivated to develop skills across all areas of a busy Development department which spans diverse revenue streams from membership and individual giving, to grants, corporate sponsorship and advertising.

Key Responsibilities:

Membership and Individual Giving (Approximately 40%) 

  • Manage membership customer service inquiries via email and phone

  • Coordinate donor/member acknowledgment letters and emails on a weekly basis

  • Manage the process of adding signed membership contracts & agreements to AirTable and requesting invoices from the Accounting Team 

  • Activate and input complimentary memberships on an as-needed basis

Awards Campaign & Advertising (Approximately 30%):

  • Review advertising assets when received to ensure they meet requirements and upload to AirTable 

  • Manage the process of adding signed contracts & agreements to AirTable and request invoices from the Accounting Team

Other Responsibilities (Approximately 30%) 

  • Print and send grant acknowledgment letters 

  • Assist with data collection for upcoming proposals and reports as needed 

  • Review and confirm upcoming deadlines for proposals and reports 

  • Maintain submitted proposal and report documents

  • Assist with maintaining the schedule of the Sr. Director of Development & Partnerships

  • Other administrative tasks as needed from Sr. Director of Development & Partnerships

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or comparable work experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in an office setting (may include internship, seasonal and part-time experience)

  • Interest or experience in documentary film and knowledge of the documentary field is a plus. So is any experience or demonstrated interest in nonprofits and development

  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized is a must

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office and Google G Suite applications is critical. As is the ability to quickly learn and master new programs, apps and technical skills. Database and CRM experience (salesforce, Neon One, Airtable) is highly valued but we will provide training opportunities on specific platforms if needed

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of organizational, financial and member information

  • Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to meet goals and deadlines effectively

Compensation and Benefits:

This position pays $22.55/hr (Full time annual equivalent $46,940).

As a temporary/seasonal part-time position, employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular employees. We will provide paid sick days, 2 paid floating holidays, paid company holidays and a paid week off when our office closes from Christmas Eve to New Years day. We offer a friendly, casual work environment, opportunities to attend industry events and screenings and flexible scheduling. We also provide a cell phone and home office stipend while our staff is working remotely. 

Applicants should be based in Los Angeles within regular commuting distance to our office in Koreatown. All positions are currently remote, but may begin to shift to some in person work as we begin to plan a safe return to the office as early as this summer.
