About the Project

The Central Coast Queer Archive Project (CCQAP) is an oral history collaborative that documents the lives of members of the LGBTQ+ community who have settled on the California Central Coast...people who chose to live in in the rural space between the haven cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles. By recovering existing archival materials and conducting original, high-quality oral history interviews with local LGBTQ+ elders, we are preserving their stories and honoring their identity, and make them available for research and educational purposes.
