Cinema for Peace Foundation USA
Cinema for Peace Foundation USA supports peace, tolerance and humanitarianism through the medium of film by raising funds to support awareness and educational pursuits related to advocacy filmmaking. Ten years ago, in commemoration of the 9-11 attacks, leaders in the film, politics, humanitarianism, media, business and philanthropy world launched a global initiative - promote humanity through film called "Cinema for Peace." Now we are thrilled to announce that as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we have expanded our reach with the creation of the Cinema for Peace Foundation USA based in Los Angeles, which was officially started on 9-11-12. We now reach out to you in hopes of building a dynamic collaboration with your organization.
Starting with the first Awards Gala Night held during the Berlin International Film Festival in 2008 founder and event producer Jaka Bizilj created Cinema for Peace as a powerful international platform for promoting peace and tolerance. Previous hosts, chairs and speakers at the Cinema for Peace galas have included Leonardo DiCaprio, President Mikhail Gorbachev, Richard Gere, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Buzz Aldrin, Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman, Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, Forest Whitaker, Clint Eastwood, and Robert de Niro. Its events - big and small - demonstrate the power of film to initiate important projects and provide a space for the free exchange of ideas. Additionally, the effects of the Cinema for Peace galas continue to reach millions around the world, possibly making it one of the most relevant film events in the world.
Cinema for Peace Foundation USA's nonprofit status is in development. Donations on behalf of Cinema for Peace are currently tax-deductible through the Fiscal Sponsorship provided by IDA.
