Save Our Future Charter High School: South Central LA: First Day of School. Founder Charlotte Jordan tells her Black and Latino students (most of whom are on court probation, have flunked out or been expelled from other high schools) that school has been shut down, due to the collapse of their management company. Jordan takes on America's second largest school district to persuade it to reopen her school under its own charter. A product or this neighborhood, Jordan toils to get these teens out of gangs, off the streets, and in school. She knows the stakes are high for them: life or death.
