The Year of Paper
"The Year Of Paper" follows three couples - lesbian, heterosexual and gay - through their newlywed year of marriage, exploring why they entered the institution and how it has changed their relationships. We interviewed historians, sociologists, clergy, activists, and politicians on both sides of the same-sex marriage debate. Although there have been recent films dealing with the subject of same-sex marriage, ours is unique in that it also includes a heterosexual couple as subjects and focuses specifically on the newlywed year and what happens after the walk down the aisle. Our film explores just what it means to be married in twenty-first century America.
