From iconic triumphs to hidden narratives, 30 for 30 blends rich storytelling with cultural context — exploring how sports intersect with politics, race, identity, and the human spirit. Each film captures the drama, emotion, and impact of sports beyond the scoreboard. 


Join us for a screening of ESPN’s acclaimed documentary series ’30 for 30’ at NYA Studios West, with a conversation panel with producer Carolyn Hepburn, producer Marquis Daisy, Director of Boo-Yah: A Portrait of Stuart Scott, Andre Gaines, moderated by DEADLINE’s Matthew Carey, and followed by a reception. From iconic triumphs to hidden narratives, 30 for 30 blends rich storytelling with cultural context — exploring how sports intersect with politics, race, identity, and the human spirit. Each film captures the drama, emotion, and impact of sports beyond the scoreboard. 

All guests will enjoy complimentary popcorn during the screening! This is an IDA member-only event. Please note that seating is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. PT, with screening starting at 6:00 p.m. PT. 

Note: IDA members have priority and complimentary access to all screenings. Other guild members (AMPAS, WGA, DGA, PGA, FIND, and Television Academy) are also invited to join with complimentary admittance.     Marquis Daisy, co-director of “Baltimore Boys,” is a producer for ESPN Films. Among his most notable work includes Rand University, a 30 for 30 film on the often-turbulent career of former NFL great Randy Moss and Black Hoosiers, a Spike Lee Lil’ Joint on the high school years of NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson. Daisy’s 2021 project, “The March on Washington: Keepers of the Dream,” debuted on NatGeo and is available on demand from Hulu.

    Andre Gaines

    Andre Gaines is an LA-based 2x Emmy-nominated director, producer, and founder of Cinemation Studios. A Toledo, Ohio native, Gaines holds degrees from Northwestern University (Journalism & Chemistry) and NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied screenwriting and film. He is known for producing acclaimed documentaries and narrative films including The Lady and the Dale on HBO, Stephen King’s CHILDREN OF THE CORN reboot, and THE ONE AND ONLY DICK GREGORY on Showtime. His feature film debut THE DUTCHMAN was selected for SXSW in 2025. Gaines is recognized for high-profile projects focusing on cultural stories, including the 2025 ESPN 30-for-30 film Boo-Yah: A Portrait of Stuart Scott.
