In this special Doc U session, the multitalented Shearer will show extended clips from the film, and discuss the passion and persistence that went into making it, in conversation with Eddie Schmidt, IDA's Board President and himself an Academy Award nominated documentary filmmaker. This promises to be an honest, irreverent, eye-opening Q&A with a man who believed in a cause so much he independently set forth to spread the word to the public - keeping the true spirit of investigative journalism alive. For Shearer, a longtime New Orleans resident, this time it's personal.
"The Big Uneasy" premiered in a one-night only theatrical release on August 30th, but this Doc U session will be a one-of-a-kind event showing clips from a film that will, at this time, otherwise be unavailable to the public until its DVD release later in the year.
Featuring appearances from actor John Goodman and Shearer himself, as well as the voices of Brad Pitt, Jennifer Coolidge, and many others, "The Big Uneasy" produced by longtime Shearer collaborator Karen Murphy ("Best In Show," "This Is Spinal Tap"), as well as doc veteran Christine O'Malley ("IOUSA," "Wordplay"), and features the contributions of director of photography Arlene Nelson ("Naked World," "Naked States," "A Mighty Wind").
