  • Joan Rudder-Ward, Director/Producer

About the Project

This is the story of the Chinese railroad workers who helped connect California to the rest of the United States. First dismissed as unsuitable and incapable of handling the difficult labor of railroad construction, they became the Davids who took on the Goliath task of making a way through the Sierra Nevada mountains for the transcontinental railroad to successfully merge the remote territory of California with the established eastern part of the US –paving the way for the prosperity that California would experience, that continues to this day.
