12/1: The Envelope asks if the IDA Awards are the "alternative to Oscar?" Meanwhile, Documentary Film Online brazenly posts: "Who needs the Oscars? IDA Awards Announced!" Natalia Almada, who is getting the 2009 Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award at the 2009 IDA Documentary Awards, also got a 2010 Spirit Award nom for her latest feature, El General.

11/30: The crowd is cheering over Avil! The Story of Anvil's victory in the IDA Music Documentary Award category. See what The Hollywood Reporter, The Wrap, indieWIRE, Moving Pictures and the Orlando Sentinel had to say about it.

11/29: Kirk Honeycutt dares to pick the definitive list of the Top 10 Movies of the Decade--one of which is Errol Morris' The Fog of War. As he says in his opening line of the piece, "Let the arguments begin..."

11/21: 2009 IDA Documentary Award host Ira Glass (along with Julien Temple) tells the crowd at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) to have fun and break the rules.

11/19: Noise Creep is especially excited about the nomination for Anvil!: The Story of Anvil in the Feature Documentary category. Meanwhile, Steve Pond over at The Wrap pontificates on the Academy's documentary shortlist, the IDA noms and more.

11/13: The Cinema Tropical Blog covered our annoucement that Mexican documentary filmmaker Natalia Almada will be the recipient of the 2009 Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award at the IDA Documentary Awards.
