About This Video

Taiwan has steadily built a distinctive place in Asia's documentary landscape. Backed by a thriving civil society, strong press freedom, and a deeply engaged public culture, the island has cultivated a documentary ecosystem unlike anywhere else in the region.

Presented by CNEX Foundation, this session traces Taiwan's evolution into a growing hub for Asian and Chinese-language documentary, from its theatrical market and festival landscape, to CNEX's two-decade journey through CCDF, Taiwan Matters, and productions such as Island in Between and A Chip Odyssey, and looks ahead to Doc Academy and Taiwan's path toward becoming Asia's documentary catalyst.

Sponsored by Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles

Moderator: Dominic Asmall Willsdon (IDA)
Panelists: Ben Tsiang, Yulan Chang (CNEX)
