Internship Opportunities

With generous support from the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, IDA is excited to offer eligible undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in a paid Summer/Fall internships. 2022 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 - December 1, 2022. 

The IDA Documentary Awards Intern will work under the supervision of IDA staff to help make one of IDA's signature programs–the annual IDA Documentary Awards–a success. From June 2022 to February 2023, the Intern will work approximately 15-20 hours per week and have opportunities to learn how to organize and deliver an annual arts-focused event, including all aspects of arts project management, communication with internal and external stakeholders, and outreach, marketing and promotion.

The Documentary Magazine Intern will work approximately 30-40 hours per week from June 2022 through September 2022 under the supervision of IDA editorial staff to undertake research, analysis and writing that will support a thriving national documentary community. The Intern will have opportunities to learn about DA, understand the essential elements of producing a leading arts publication, and understand the national documentary landscape as well as some of the issues that are most important to filmmakers.

  • Public Programs & Events Producer / Senior Manager

    Public Programs & Events Producer / Senior Manager oversees the strategy, planning and execution of all public facing events at the IDA. They are responsible for the creation of meaningful and impactful events that serve both the field and industry, foster strong community relationships, increase revenue, add to membership, and bring broader visibility for the organization. They have a keen interest in creating a smooth, high-end customer experience with a focus on audience satisfaction and accessibility while staying on time and budget. The candidate must be able to demonstrate internal team leadership while employing an ambitious yet collaborative and results-oriented approach to drive the production of high-quality events.

  • Grants Writer

    Reporting to the Grants Manager, the Grants Writer will assist in the oversight of IDA’s foundation and government grant portfolio, supporting the grants process from start to finish. The Grant Writer will collaborate with the Grants Manager on prospect research for current and new funding opportunities; liaise with program staff to understand programs and initiatives needing support; conduct research; write, track and submit grant proposals and reports; and drive the process to collect and track relevant quantitative and qualitative data across the organization. The position will also collaborate with the rest of the development team to execute fundraising strategies and events to expand IDA’s major donor program.

  • Grants Manager

    The Grants Manager will oversee IDA’s foundation and government grant portfolio, managing and independently driving the grants process from start to finish.   • Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications

    The Senior Manager of Marketing & Communications directs and manages all elements of IDA’s marketing and communications efforts and campaigns. They are responsible for understanding and reaching IDA’s diverse audiences and working collaboratively with staff across departments including Documentary Magazine staff to identify goals and opportunities for outreach that will highlight IDA’s activities in these areas.

  • Director of Development

    IDA is seeking a highly collaborative, skilled and hands-on Director of Development excited by, and committed to, helping the organization fulfill its mission. The Director of Development is responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing and assessing IDA’s development and outreach strategies in support of the organization’s strategic vision and growth and its commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access.
