The works of four IDA grantees will have their world premieres at the upcoming 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The films are all directed by women and include IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund Production Grantees Knock Down The House directed by Rachel Lears and One Child Nation directed by Nanfu Wang and Jialing Zhang, as well as IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund Development Grantee Life Overtakes Me, a Netflix Originals short documentary directed by John Haptas and Kristine Samuelson.
IDA announced the appointment of Aaron Saidman and Vinnie Malhotra as new members of its Board of Directors. Saidman is the Co-Founder & President of The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), as well as the President of Industrial Media. Malhotra is the SVP of Documentaries, Unscripted, and Sports Programming at Showtime Networks.
Bing Liu’s "Minding The Gap" emerged this evening with top honors in the Best Feature category at the 34th Annual IDA Documentary Awards. Floyd Russ’s "Zion" was awarded Best Short. The year’s biggest night in documentary took place at the Paramount Theatre and was hosted by actor, television presenter, and producer Ricki Lake.
The nominees for Best Audio Documentary include 30 for 30 Podcasts: Bikram, ESPN’s deep dive into the complicated world of Bikram yoga; Caliphate, New York Times reporter Rukmini Callimachi’s quest to understand ISIS; Heavyweight—Episode: Jesse, which follows a man’s attempt to find and thank the driver that hit and nearly killed him; Latino USA—Episode: The Quevedos, producer Sayre Quevedo’s journey to understand what happened to his grandmother, the secrets that his mother kept from him, and the family that he never knew;
IDA has unveiled the nominees for the 2018 IDA Documentary Awards. The annual event is the world's most prestigious event dedicated to the documentary genre. Winners of the 34th edition will be announced at the ceremony on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Paramount Studios, Los Angeles.
For the first time, the International Documentary Association (IDA) has unveiled the shortlists in the Shorts and Features categories for their annual IDA Documentary Awards.
The IDA announced today the lineup of their annual curated screening series, which opens Wednesday, September 12 with a screening of one of this year’s film festival favorites, Won't You Be My Neighbor?, from Academy Award-winning director Morgan Neville launches the series.
Next week at Getting Real ‘18, the IDA will introduce a cohort of 12 films receiving the IDA’ Enterprise Documentary Fund production grants.
IDA announced today that it will bring Gimme Truth! to Getting Real ‘18, the only documentary film gathering of its kind in North America. This special edition of the infamous documentary game show is presented in partnership with True/False Film Fest. The wildly entertaining event is a hilarious mashup of filmmaking and investigation, where local filmmakers attempt to stump the panelists with their short doc-style videos that are entirely TRUE or entirely FALSE. The game show will be free and open to the public.
Getting Real ‘18, a three-day conference presented by the International Documentary Association (IDA) in partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, is the largest gathering of its kind in North America. The 2018 edition will take place September 25-27, 2018, in Los Angeles, California.
