DocuClub LA: We Are Not Princesses

Director(s):
Bridgette Auger and Itab Azzam

Please join us Monday, November 6, for Docuclub LA, with a work-in-progress screening of WE ARE NOT PRINCESSES. Following the screening, we will be joined by Director Bridgette Auger and Producer/Editor Sara Maamouri for a moderated feedback discussion.

In WE ARE NOT PRINCESSES, Antigone, the ancient Greek heroine, ignites the spirits of four Syrian women living in Beirut’s refugee camps. Feminine wisdom, passed through the ages, connects the inner lives of these women and gives them a sense of belonging and rootedness. Through animation and intimate vérité footage, this feature-length documentary illustrates that which is invisible to the eye: the thoughts, memories, and dreams of these mothers, sisters, and wives as they grapple daily with past traumas and future uncertainty.

Doors open at 7:00 pm. Screening begins at 7:30 sharp, followed by a moderated feedback discussion with the filmmakers. Drinks and light snacks will be available before and after the screening.

Space is very limited so please update your RSVP if you can't make it so we can have a real count of the attendees. Admission not guaranteed, all RSVP's are first-come, first served.
