About the Film
When Taiwan fell under Japanese rule in World War II, a buried chapter of history resurfaces, revealing the untold lives of soldiers and civilians entangled in an empire’s war. This film seeks to uncover the overlooked memories of the war in Asia, including Taiwan and other parts of Southeast Asia. It explores the experiences of Taiwanese soldiers who were forced to become accomplices in wartime atrocities, as well as the lives of civilians living under Japanese colonial rule.
