SnagFilms Commemorates September 11th Anniversary with Weeklong Retrospective

By Tom White

SnagFilms, the online documentary platform launched by former AOL mogul Ted Leonsis, is observing the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, with a slate of five films that address that epochal date. The five films, which began unspooling September 5 and will continue through September 12, are Steven Rosenbaum's 7 Days in September; Glenn Holsten's Saint of 9/11; Beth Murphy's Beyond Belief; Danny Schecter's We Are Family; and Afghanistan Revealed, reported by Sebastian Junger. Viewers are encouraged to contribute to the causes addressed in the films, and to the National September 11th Memorial. The September 11th Remembrance in Film is the first of what SnagFilms intends to be an annual program.

"One of the reasons we created SnagFilms was to bring to a wider audience high quality documentaries that can really have an impact, said Leonsis in a statement. "Offering a Web audience a chance to see these powerful films, add their own reflections, and support the Memorial--all as a way of commemorating September 11--is something we uniquely can and must do."
