About the Project

The story of Notre Dame's Knute Rockne -- college football's greatest coach -- as seen from a modern day perspective. How did one man reimagine the game, harness the powers of the new medium of radio, and lay the groundwork for one of the most popular sports in the world? And how did he do all this while balancing the pressures and expectations of winning within the constraints of higher education? From his early days as a player at Notre Dame to his tragic death at the age of 43, ROCKNE brings to life the father of modern day college football and reckons with his long-lasting legacy.
