The image shows an underwater scene in green-blue tones. At the center, a large blue crab is seen from the front, standing on the seabed with its claws raised and legs spread. Particles float in the water, creating a textured, atmospheric look. Soft light filters from above, illuminating the crab and the surrounding water. At the top of the image, the film title SAPIDUS appears in large serif letters, followed by the tagline “A journey across tides, traditions, and a vanishing future.”

About the Project

SAPIDUS is an epic documentary film born from the encounter between three waters and three cultures united by the same species: the blue crab.

Shot through poetic realism and vérité intimacy, the film captures the lives of watermen and women in the Chesapeake Bay (USA), Lake Maracaibo (Venezuela) and the Po Delta (Italy) — communities fighting to preserve heritage and identity on the edge of ecological and economic transformation.
