About the Project

Let Me Get There is a compelling visual journey through one of the most significant periods of mass migration in history, told through beautiful 100-year-old photographs and personal stories that highlight the diverse backgrounds and experiences of people flowing in and out of Ellis Island and other ports of entry in the United States. It connects past and present immigration narratives by examining archival images and the lives behind them. Told through the lens of early photographers, a compassionate researcher, and the descendants of immigrants and migrants, the story opens our eyes to the incredible humanity and lives behind this beautiful photographic tapestry of America.
