Found follows the filmmaker’s personal search for the truth behind the story of his abandonment as an infant in rural southern Greece in1963 — found in a basket left hanging from the branch of an olive tree — thereby shining a spotlight on a little-known, decades-long campaign during the Cold War to adopt out nearly five-thousand Greek-born infants and children to the US for various humanitarian, political and economic reasons — some valid, and some perhaps not. Ultimately this documentary raises universal questions about the meaning of home and family, and the need to know our origins.
