About the Project

A revealing look at one of the world’s greatest pianists – Emanuel Ax, a reluctant virtuoso riddled with stage fright – as he embarks on his 50th year of performing while contemplating the idea of never walking on a stage again.

This is a film about one of the greatest pianists in the world and what it takes to live the life of a virtuoso. And helping to tell that story are Ax's friends and collaborators – musical legends including Yo-Yo Ma, John Williams, Itzhak Perlman, Michael Tilson Thomas and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
