About the Project

A father builds his dream home; his son grows up watching it fall apart.

Set in Tawau, Malaysia, in 2002, The Greatest House My Father Built is an animated documentary short in which filmmaker King Yaw Soon retells his childhood memories of the last house his family lived in together, through recreated game environments, watercolor animation, archival family photographs, and narration in his mother tongue, Hakka.
