A helicopter is flying past the hazy silhouettes of the Hollywood Hills in a pink sunset.

About the Project

In their ancestral homeland Los Angeles, members of the Kizh-Gabrieleño Band of Mission Indians are responding to the city’s ecological crisis by reviving the highly efficient land stewardship practices of their ancestors, in collaboration with the city and state. Meanwhile, LA’s ancient Indigenous heritage is resurfacing across the pond, in a Berlin library and museum. A feature documentary about post-colonial and ecological healing, HAZY VALLEY traces the bold vision of a community of survivors in a famous place that is just beginning to remember its origin story.
