About the Project

Inquiry of Shadows is an essay-documentary that examines genocide not
only as physical erasure, but as a psychological colonization of time, memory,
identity, and perception.

Through testimony, research, archival traces, and photographs taken from
outside the community, the film adopts a de-colonial approach acknowledging the gaze while centring lived experience over visual authority. It reveals how genocide extends beyond bodily harm, reshaping how people remember, perceive, and understand themselves.

This film is not focused solely on events.
It asks what it feels like to live within their ongoing impact.
