About the Project

Left Behind, currently in production, examines the issue of undiagnosed dyslexia, one of the leading causes of illiteracy in the United States. The film follows six mothers as they endeavor to open the first public school for dyslexic children in New York City: the Manhattan Literacy Academy. Left Behind addresses themes such as education inequity and the literacy epidemic in the U.S., and it is a call to action to advocate for students impacted by the challenges of dyslexia, especially those from underserved populations.
