Originally from Toronto, Adam Irving dropped out of his PhD program in media studies at the University of Texas to work as a filmmaker in L.A. He began as a reality TV cameraman, then forayed into producing fundraising videos for non-profit organizations. In 2016, Adam directed, edited and shot his debut doc Off the Rails which premiered at Full Frame and Hot Docs, winning best documentary at the Newport Beach Film Festival and the John Schlesigner Award for outstanding directing at the Provincetown International Film Festival. The subject of Off the Rails will be made into a Hollywood film called Train Man starring Julia Roberts, set to begin production later this year.
