IDA's FallDocs, formerly known as IDA Screening Series, is a curated collection of the most acclaimed documentary films of the year. We combine films and their creators with industry insiders and film enthusiasts throughout the award season. IDA’s FallDocs hybrid event presents films in-person and streaming online via IDA's Eventive virtual platform. This format will expand your film’s geographical reach and help gain new audiences.

The Audience

FallDocs is now exclusive to IDA & AMPAS members and is invitation-only to craft guild members. As a staff, we are closely following local COVID-19 public health protocols and social-distancing measures for in-person screenings. If you aren’t already a member, join the IDA family today!

The changes we have outlined are part of IDA’s many efforts to implement its core values. We cannot do this work alone, and we are grateful for our industry partners and sponsors whose financial support helps us fund important field-building initiatives.

Awards Campaign Access Initiative (ACAI)

Entering its 10th year of programming, IDA is excited to present a selection of the most acclaimed documentaries of the 2023-24 awards season. In the interest of advancing a more equitable documentary culture, in addition to the changes made last year to our selection process, IDA has expanded the curation process to include a programmer to survey ethical standards of submissions.

This year IDA continues those commitments through our Awards Campaign Access Initiative (ACAI), an in-kind award campaign program that will amplify the visibility of under-resourced Oscar-qualifying projects directed an/or produced by filmmakers from historically excluded communities, including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQ+, D/deaf, and disabled filmmakers. Eligible films are Oscar-qualifying or Oscar-qualified documentary features for the 2023-24 awards season. International filmmakers are welcome to apply. Learn more here.

FallDocs committee will assess the applications to select up to 10 films that will be part of the curated series at no cost to those filmmakers. The program is underwritten primarily through FallDocs event fees and supplemented with additional funds from IDA’s general operating budget.

Please note that FallDocs - Awards Campaign Access Initiative (ACAI) has no connection to the IDA Documentary Awards. These two programs are separate and run by different departments at IDA.
