Tourism of Origins

About the Project

On one side of the Atlantic, perched atop a hillside on the island of Sicily, sits the town of Alessandria della Rocca. Surrounded by views of fruit orchards and vineyards, the residents here are in a struggle to remain relevant in an ever-changing world.

On the opposite side of the Atlantic, dispersed among the American continents and Australia, live Alessandria's emigrants and their descendants. For the many who settled in large modern cities, the opportunities and distractions afforded by 21st century life are easily taken for granted.

The members of these two communities, bound by ancestry yet separated by time and distance, will soon be reunited...if a small town mayor has his way.
