About the Project
At a time when the ground beneath us seems to be slipping away in a morass of social media, fake news and fear mongering, this film is a story of building mutual respect and recognition by showing how people are changed when they feel seen and heard. Americanism goes beyond partisan politics to listen to often forgotten voices of the Heartland one conversation at a time. We bring together two people whose values, beliefs and ideologies are diametrically opposed to see if they can find common ground. Leading up to the conversations, we create character portraits of both and tell their stories to help explain why they make the choices they do. The film in its entirety will include pairings of similar conversations from different regions across the country. We begin in Wyoming.
