About the Project

"I would find a child that nobody loved, that nobody cared for….all they wanted was a hug. If a child likes you, they'll do anything for you. Anything." - Richard, convicted child molester living in suburbia. 95% of sex offenders get released from prison. The question is: what happens then? This is the first-ever documentary about convicted sex offenders transitioning from prisons back into communities. With unprecedented access to the nation's only halfway house for 55 released rapists and pedophiles, we get inside the minds of offenders, profiling five as they balance parole, therapy, lie-detector tests, and avoiding triggers that could lead to re-offense – all while citizens across the state say "we don't want you - not in our neighborhoods."
