Prison Terminal: Life and Death in a Prison Hospice

  • Edgar A. Barens, Director/Producer

About the Project

Prison Terminal is a feature length documentary following the final months in the life of a prisoner, from his initial terminal diagnosis to his eventual death in an Iowa prison-based hospice program. Prison Terminal tells the personal stories of the people who make the prison hospice function; from the prisoner hospice volunteers; the community hospice trainers; the correctional and medical staff; to the dying prisoner and his family members. Prison Terminal demonstrates the holistic benefits a prison-based hospice program has on those involved on both sides of the wall and reveals the complexities of end-of-life care in the correctional environment.
